Intro to Pyrography (Woodburning) for Teens

This workshop has been indefinitely postponed - we will reschedule it when it is safe to do so.

Pyrography is the art of “drawing with fire.” Mountainside Arts is proud to bring Debbie Pompano to the studio to lead the Intro to Pyrography workshop for teens. Debbie is the author of the Woodburning Project and Pattern Treasury and has led numerous workshops and classes on woodburning around the country including at the John C. Campbell Folk Art School in Asheville, NC.

Participants (ages 13-17) will learn:

-Selecting a design, sketching or transferring to the wood

-Techniques for basic burning, shading and creating texture

-Creating interesting borders to complement the central image

-Using text to enhance artwork

-Options for finishing (varnish or stain) as well as the option of using watercolor to add pops of color to the woodburning

Maximum of 8 participants

Cost: $90 including all supplies and lunch

Included supplies: (1) Extra large, sanded basswood oval plaque, (1) basswood 3x4” ornament, (1) birch practice plank

*The studio provides woodburning tools, paints and stains, and transfer paper to all participants to use during the workshop
